If you run a UK limited company and make a profit, Corporation Tax is likely to be one of your key tax responsibilities. But the amount you pay is not based on profit alone. Allowable expenses, capital allowances, losses, available reliefs, and the way your business is structured can all affect your final tax bill.
That is where the right corporate tax accountant makes a difference. At Lanop, we do more than prepare your CT600 and calculate what you owe HMRC. Our corporate tax accountants review how that liability has been reached, identify relevant reliefs and planning opportunities, and help you prepare for upcoming payments before they become a cash-flow surprise.
Know your tax position. Plan ahead. Pay what your company genuinely owes.
Corporation Tax becomes more demanding as your business grows. Lanop’s corporate tax accountants support UK companies with filing, planning, reliefs, HMRC matters, and more complex tax needs, giving you the right support at each stage of your business.
We calculate your taxable profits, make the required tax adjustments, prepare the supporting computations, and complete your CT600. If you need an accountant to file your Corporation Tax return, we manage the submission to HMRC accurately and on time.
We review your expected profits and tax position before year-end. This gives you time to prepare for upcoming liabilities and consider legitimate Corporation Tax planning opportunities before important decisions have already been made.
We review your expenditure, losses, capital allowances, and relevant reliefs to identify claims your company may qualify for. This helps you avoid overlooking legitimate opportunities while keeping claims supported and compliant.
Rising profits, major investments, and changes within your business can affect how much Corporation Tax you pay. We help you understand those changes early and plan for their impact rather than discovering them when the return is prepared.
Running more than one company can introduce additional tax considerations. We review associated companies, relevant group reliefs, losses, and transactions between companies to help you understand the wider Corporation Tax position.
Starting to trade brings Corporation Tax responsibilities. We help new companies understand Corporation Tax registration, accounting periods, first returns, and key HMRC requirements from the beginning.
If HMRC questions your return, requests information, or you discover an error, we help establish what needs attention, review the figures, prepare supporting information, and deal with the matter clearly.
Our corporate tax compliance support looks beyond the next filing deadline. We review reporting obligations, potential tax risks, and changes within your company that may affect its Corporation Tax position.
As your company changes, your tax strategy may need to change with it. Lanop provides ongoing access to a corporate tax advisor for major investments, restructuring, expansion, and other decisions that could have tax consequences.
Designed for UK companies that need reliable Corporation Tax compliance, planning, and advice as their business develops.
Whether you are based in the UK or managing a UK tax position from overseas, Lanop helps you keep your Corporation Tax obligations clear, compliant, and properly planned.
UK companies pay Corporation Tax on their taxable profits, but there is not always one rate for every business. The rate that applies can depend on the level of profit and, in some cases, the number of associated companies. The UK currently has a 25% main Corporation Tax rate for companies with profits above £250,000 and a 19% small profits rate for companies with profits of £50,000 or less. Companies between these levels may qualify for Marginal Relief, which gradually increases the effective rate as profits rise.
These thresholds can also be reduced when a company has associated companies and are proportionately reduced for accounting periods shorter than 12 months. That means a growing business, someone controlling several companies, or a company with a shorter accounting period may reach a different tax position sooner than expected. Lanop’s corporation tax accountants calculate where your company sits, apply the relevant rules and reliefs, and help you understand what is due rather than leaving you to work from the headline 19% or 25% rate alone.
The CT600 forms part of the Company Tax Return sent to HMRC, but the work behind it starts much earlier. Your company accounts must first be brought up to date, accounting profit reviewed for tax adjustments, relevant allowances and reliefs considered, and the final Corporation Tax liability calculated.
Timing matters too. Most UK companies pay Corporation Tax 9 months and 1 day after their accounting period ends, while the Company Tax Return (including the CT600) is generally due 12 months after the period ends. So, the tax can be payable months before the return itself has to be filed. Large and very large companies may need to pay Corporation Tax by quarterly instalments instead.
That is why Lanop works from the accounting records forward, rather than treating the CT600 as a standalone form. We connect your accounts, tax computation, claims, payment, and Corporation Tax filing so the figures agree, and each obligation is dealt with at the right time.
You are not simply told that a deadline is approaching. You know what the figure is based on, what needs to be paid, and what has been filed with HMRC.
At Lanop Business and Tax Advisors, we have supported UK and international clients across different stages of business, from owner-managed companies and growing firms to established businesses with more complex Corporation Tax needs. This gives our team practical experience of how tax issues change as profits, investment, ownership, and business activity develop.
Our experience also covers clients with multiple entities, cross-border operations, and UK tax responsibilities managed from overseas. Where HMRC raises questions, we look beyond the return itself, reviewing the underlying figures, records, and tax treatment needed to support the company’s position.
That experience shapes how our corporate tax accountants advise each client. We do not apply the same tax approach to every company. Lanop considers how your business operates, where its tax risks sit, and what needs attention now, giving directors clear advice they can rely on when making financial and tax decisions.

No. UK limited companies are not generally required to hire an accountant just to submit a Corporation Tax return. However, the company remains responsible for accurate taxable profit calculations, claims, tax figures, and CT600 filing. Professional help becomes more valuable as your tax affairs become more complex.
You will normally need company accounts or accounting records, details of income and expenses, asset purchases, previous tax information, and records of significant transactions. At Lanop Business and Tax Advisors, we can identify what is required for your company, so you are not left guessing which documents matter.
Potentially. Allowable expenses, capital allowances, losses, qualifying reliefs, and certain business decisions can affect taxable profits. The key is knowing what your company genuinely qualifies for. Lanop reviews the available options against your circumstances rather than applying the same tax-saving approach to every business.
Ignoring the bill can make the problem worse. Depending on the circumstances, HMRC may consider a Time to Pay arrangement. If cash flow is becoming a problem, it is better to understand your liability early and contact HMRC where appropriate rather than waiting until the debt becomes more difficult to manage.
Some mistakes can be corrected by amending the Corporation Tax return within the applicable time limit. If the error changes the tax owed or affects a previous claim, it should be reviewed promptly. At Lanop, we can review the original figures, identify what went wrong, and help determine the appropriate correction.
Yes. HMRC can open an enquiry and ask for records or explanations supporting figures included in your return. This is why expenses, reliefs, allowances, and other tax treatments should be properly supported rather than simply claimed because they appear to reduce the bill.
Yes. You normally do not need to wait until your company year-end to switch accountants. The new accountant can arrange the professional handover and obtain relevant information from your previous adviser, subject to the required authorisation and professional procedures.
A general accountant may cover annual accounts, bookkeeping, payroll, and routine compliance. A corporate tax accountant focuses more closely on company taxation, including Corporation Tax calculations, planning, reliefs, tax risks, and the tax impact of more complex business decisions.
A UK company can still have UK Corporation Tax responsibilities even when its owner or director lives overseas. Lanop supports overseas clients with UK company accounts, Corporation Tax returns, and HMRC requirements, while identifying any areas that need separate international tax advice.
Look for signs such as rapidly increasing profits, several companies under common ownership, international activity, major investments, more complex transactions, or receiving little advice beyond your annual CT600. These often indicate that your business could benefit from ongoing corporate tax advice rather than filing-only support.

EXCELLENT Based on 121 reviews Posted on Google Treadwell's BooksTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We're a small company in business for 23 years. We've been with Lanop for over a year now. From the outset they listened carefully to our somewhat complex bookkeeping needs (we sell products and services with different tax codes); they've provided a tailored solution that they execute with precision and in a timely manner. We hired them to provide combined bookkeeping, payroll and accountancy service, and they're a dream to work with on all aspects. They are careful and conscientious, and never last minute. Excellent measured responses when I ring up with questions - always so friendly, too. The price is very reasonable, not least given the high standard of service and the peace of mind we have. Top drawer.Posted on Google Rob HolroydTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I booked a 30-minute consultation with Muhammad, who was great and understood all the challenges i'd be facing and what direction i need to go. I was very impressed with his advice, and i came away with confidence and reassurance that this is someone i need to be working with as i scale up.Posted on Google Soliu FataiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I was so lost in the woods with taxes and accounts, and on top of that, I had a limited company I was eager to get off my hands. Lanop was fabulous from start to finish and got everything taken care of. I went from being a bundle of nerves about anything financial to feeling totally at ease. I never thought I'd see the day! Everything occurred in a timely manner and I was always updated on everything that was going on, which was lovely. I was also quoted really fairly for everything as well! Above all else, Lanop gave me incredible peace of mind.
